The central idea of my concentration deals with trauma and tarnishing of the human constitution. The body, both physically and psychologically, is effected by the traumas that occur in life. And although the effect is not obvious, these incidents obtain something from us; I have chosen to front these commonly non-visual cues in my work.
I wanted to make a point of these ever present absences without the artwork itself becoming too illustrative. So I created physical voids. The square and rectangular shapes are a stark representation of what will never be returned. All my figures were created first, and then I proceeded to cut out portions of the drawings. Every piece is mounted on black or white board. I felt this to be the most severe and effective way to get my point across.
Suffering irreversible losses in one way or another has damaged our integrity, so how better to represent this than to unalterably damage my artwork.

Isn't it wonderful how nature arranges for all the crack pots to find each other?
